We live in a stressful world, admit it. You can say 'I love the adrenaline!' a million times and it could still be true but the same way your body needs rest at night, we don't often pay attention to our minds. The result? Wide-spread, hugely denied cases of insomnia.
Traveling is a fantastic way to take the mind off of our worries and everyday responsibilities but so are yoga retreats. In fact, there are more benefits to attending a yoga retreat as opposed to just traveling. Attending a yoga retreat lets us spend quality time with no one else but ourselves, but this is not to say that you HAVE to attend a yoga retreat on your own. You can enroll with close friends who are seeking temporary refuge from the fast-paced world that we live in.
Some people think that yoga retreats are for insane people or at least, people who are close to a woo-hoo-hoo place where ghosts, angels, demons, and zombies exists. Please....I am here to tell you that it is not. Think scenic surroundings, beautiful locations all around the world, being surrounded by nature, flowers, fauna and animals.
Yoga not only tunes the mind, it tunes up the body as well. If you have never tried yoga, you may be inclined to think that yoga is for sissies and it does nothing for the body. Challenge yourself to one yoga pose that you can find on the internet and hold it for twenty seconds and then come back and tell me it does nothing to your body.

I am also here to dispel the myth that yoga is a religion - it is most definitely is NOT. The core of it is based on Buddhism but you do not have to be a Buddhist to enjoy and benefit from yoga. The techniques are useful for everyone of all race, ethnic background and religion and no one can force you to utter a single mantra if you did not wish to.
For your information, there are no chanting of mantras in most of the world's most yoga retreats. There is only lots of pampering, relaxation and toning of bodies.
Last but not least, let me end this article with a rather shocking fact. It is proven that stress is a major contribution to world diseases, including cancer. 70% of world diseases, cites WHO, World Health Organization.
