Ursa Katharina Müllen

 Director Work Life Balance

With a multi-disciplinary background in anthropology and medicine, Katharina has worked in business and governmental organizations since 1985. Always in the fields of innovation, transformation and change to create and improve market position. This responsibility taught her early on that no true and lasting change occurs if it does not make sense to all the stakeholders involved: people need to search for and create meaning for their experiences – otherwise nothing different happens.

A demanding professional life combined with family obligations brought her on her knees to search for her own work life balance. After a rational attempt to delegate even family responsibilities, she skeptically participated in mindfulness training and changed sides to become an advocate. But the story would not be complete would it end that happily – but that is for another time.

Katharina belongs to those people who need to stumble more than once to really truly accept that work life balance is an everlasting investment and only truly yields if you keep up the good intentions and practice.

After leaving her function at he University at Leiden as researcher and lecturer on the integration of western and local traditional medicine in developing countries, Katharina has worked in many fields: among others, IT-business solutions, Educational Software development, International Expert Recruitment, Banks, City-making & City-marketing; Privatization of Governmental departments, Health Care Delivery.

Attention for vitality in organizations has been her focus point for the last 8 years. She believes that a vital enterprise enables people to engage their energy, talents and committed contribution more productively.

It also enables people in business to become more resilient and energetic as they seek out and enjoy the satisfaction offered by their work. People do not have to become sick to become better. People who feel better – perform better with less effort.

With regard to work life balance and well-functioning organizations, I will enjoy to share with you what I have learned through the years and look forward to exchange professional and personal insights and experience.

I want to contribute to your organization performing at its best and therefore we need to create the conditions for people performing at their best.

We can only grow a green forest with green trees.
